This is just the beginning. We invite you to explore the threads that connect past and present.

A Brief History of Piña Embroidery

Piña embroidery is a unique Filipino tradition that transforms pineapple leaf fibers into sheer, elegant textiles. Introduced during Spanish colonization in the 16th–17th centuries, the craft flourished in the 1800s, producing intricately embroidered garments like the barong tagalog and María Clara dresses. Once prized across Europe for its delicate beauty, piña embroidery declined in the 20th century but has since seen a revival. Today, it remains a symbol of Filipino heritage, artistry, and sustainable craftsmanship.
